Privacy Policy

Hill Explorer ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Hill Explorer mobile application ("App") and related services.

1. Data We Do Not Store

We do not store personal data such as:

  • Your location (GPS coordinates)
  • Photos taken within the App
  • User-generated content
  • Any personal identifiers

All such data is processed locally on your device or temporarily used to provide functionality and is not stored by us.

2. Data Used for App Functionality

Location

The App uses your precise location (GPS) to identify nearby hills, peaks, and points of interest.
This data is processed in real time and is not stored.

Camera

The App uses your device camera to provide augmented reality (AR) functionality.
Photos taken by the user are saved only to the user's device and are never transmitted to our servers.

API Requests

When using the App, your device sends:

  • Latitude
  • Longitude
  • Elevation

These are used solely to retrieve relevant nearby objects.
We do not store this data.

3. Advertising (AdMob)

The App uses third-party advertising services provided by Google AdMob.

Google may collect and process data such as:

  • Device identifiers (e.g., Advertising ID)
  • Usage data
  • Approximate location

This data is processed by Google in accordance with their Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Where required by applicable law, users are asked for consent before ads are enabled and may change their advertising preferences at any time within the App settings.

4. Purchases and Subscriptions

Subscriptions and payments are processed by Google Play Billing.

We do not have access to:

  • Your payment details
  • Credit card information

Google handles all transactions according to their own policies.

5. Data Storage

We do not store personal data on our servers.
Data processed through the App is used only in real time to provide functionality.

6. Server Location

Our services may use servers located within the European Union or other regions.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

8. Crash Reporting and Analytics

The App uses Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports and diagnostic information such as device model, operating system version, app version, and stack traces so we can detect and fix technical issues.

The App may also use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics and app interaction data in order to improve app features, stability, and user experience. Analytics collection is enabled only with user consent where required by applicable law.

This website uses Simple Analytics, a cookieless privacy-friendly analytics service that does not track individual users.

9. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to:

  • Request access to your data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to processing of your data

Since we do not store personal data, most of these rights do not apply in practice.
